Lockdown Jazz III

How about this for a mouthwatering line-up? Jazz in the Round is streaming an evening of live sets on 11 May at 8pm, featuring Tim Garland, James Beckwith, Alina Bzhezhinska and Branford Marsalis.

Branford Marsalis is one of my all-time favourite musicians. His performance at North Sea Jazz Festival a few years back was one of the standout gigs of my entire life! And I caught Alina Bzhezhinska at Fleece Jazz last summer. She delivered a truly captivating performance - particularly given that her bass player and saxophonist never made it to the gig!

Tim Garland I know from his many recordings, but James Beckwith will be a new one for me. I'm told he's a regular on the fizzing (at least before the pandemic) London scene.

You get the link for the performances when you pay for your £5 ticket here. That price sounds a bargain.

Here's another livestream solo gig for jazz fans whose ears are yearning for some live music. This time it's serious... I mean, produced by Serious.

Camilla George is an artist on my ever-expanding list of acts I haven't caught up with live - yet! I need to remedy that ASAP, but in the meantime...

Serious's previous livestream events are worth revisiting too. In particular, check out the Rob Luft's Life Is The Dancer album launch gig.

If, like me, you're itching for some live jazz, here's a live-streamed performance worth catching. From the lovely people at the Vortex, it's a donation-based performance by the rather excellent George Crowley.

I've caught him solo at Jazz in the Round in the past, so I can vouch for the fact that this'll be well worth getting online for. And you can get that feelgood factor of knowing your donation is helping keep the venue alive.
